Hiroshi Ikeda

Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan is the founder and chief instructor of Boulder Aikikai, a non-profit school of Aikido in Boulder, Colorado, USA. He currently holds the rank of 7th dan through the Aikido World Headquarters (Hombu Dojo). 

Ikeda Sensei began his study of Aikido in 1968, as a college student at Kokugakuin University in Tokyo. In 1978, he relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where he became involved in the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. In 1980, he moved to Boulder to establish Boulder Aikikai, where he is the chief instructor. 

Ikeda Sensei travels extensively, conducting Aikido seminars at dojo around the country and abroad. In 2005 he started the Aikido Bridge seminars, the purpose of which is to bring together instructors and students of Aikido from different organizations and backgrounds to share training, build friendships and work together for the future growth of Aikido. Presently, Aikido Bridge seminars are held all over the world.

Mike Sigman

Mike Sigman has more than 45 years of martial training in Judo, Okinawan Karate, Aikido, Taijiquan, and many other Chinese martial arts. Since 1975 Mike has devoted his time to gathering information and training methods for the body skills surrounding all the physical abilities of ki / kokyu / jin and in the conditioning methods (both hard and soft) that are involved in the body / mind training of breathing methods. 

Mike is well known in Internal martial arts circles from his Internal Strength seminars given around the world, was the editor / publisher of ‘Internal Strength’ magazine and has written numerous articles and given numerous workshops all over the world. He is at the forefront of a movement among internal martial arts enthusiasts, teachers, experts and amateurs which seeks to demystify the power generation that has made Bagua, Xingyi, and Taiji famous.

JOHN BURN

John began training in martial arts at the age of 7 and has been studying aikido since the early 90’s; he is the only direct student of Hiroshi Ikeda sensei in the UK who he has maintained a close relationship with for over 20 years. He spends countless hours every year with Ikeda sensei including personal tuition and runs a fulltime dojo in Coventry. John’s main interest with aikido is internal strength, specifically in how to use gravity and the ground to bring solidity to his body whilst breaking another's balance.
